The Transatlantic Academy

At the newly-established Transatlantic Academy, European and American experts come together in Washington D.C. to focus on one key issue of the future. The Academy is a joint initiative of the ZEIT-Stiftung together with the German Marshall Fund of the United States. The Transatlantic Academy tackles current key issues and seeks interdisciplinary approaches to finding solutions. The Academy is directed by an expert on European Studies, Professor Stephen F. Szabo.

A group of four experts is invited to spend a ten month period in the U.S. capital to benefit from the excellent working and networking conditions there. They represent a variety of disciplines and nations and reflect on the chosen topic from their perspectives.
Topics will include migration, climate change and energy supplies, and the rise of China and India as global powers, with an aim to finding solutions to the concomitant problems faced by nation states, the economy, and civilian society.
